High Expectations for Perfomance

High expectations for academic performance will guide assessment. Performance will be measured with performance-based and portfolio assessment as well as an array of traditional tests and statewide standardized assessments. We anticipate that each

Studio

School student will pass all Mississippi Curriculum Tests and End-of-Course Subject Area Tests during their stay at

Studio

School. These state tests will provide a minimum level of academic performance in

Studio

School.

Studio

School will require a minimum of four design projects per academic year which will be subject to multiple, rigorous peer and expert reviews in the form of juries. Regular public exhibitions of students’ perfomance called juries and critiques will show and tell what

Studio

School students know and are able to do. Subjective, standardized, local, state, and national tests will be used as only single data points of success indicators and will never be a sole substitute for real performance.
