Girls in the Studio
Studio School AAUW Community Action Grant activites are underway. April Heiselt is serving as lead principal investigator on the “Studio School: Helping Girls Reach Their Potential in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic (STEM) Fields” project. This project will raise local community awareness of the need to share responsibility for the success of middle and high school girls in STEM fields of study and will focus on girls who risk becoming school dropouts. These girls learn to recognize their potential to succeed in the STEM fields and increase their self-confidence to make the attempt. Work with local girl scout troops, sororities, civic organizations, and the local AAUW chapter will continue into 2008.
